The "Real-World" Fit Guide: Gildan 64000 Softstyle

Most of our apparel is printed on the Gildan 64000 (Softstyle). Think of this as the "upgrade" choice. Unlike the heavy, stiff shirts of the past, this uses ring-spun cotton. It’s lighter, significantly softer against the skin, and has a more modern silhouette.

1. The "Modern" Fit (Euro Fit)

This is a step up from the old-school boxy tees. It is what the industry calls a "Euro Fit."

• The Shape: It features slightly tapered shoulders and sleeves that follow the arm a bit better, rather than sticking out like wings. It is not a tight muscle-fit, but it’s less "tent-like" than a heavy cotton tee.
• The Vibe: It feels more like a retail t-shirt you’d buy for yourself, rather than a cheap promotional freebie. It drapes naturally rather than hanging stiffly.

2. Advice for the Lads (The "Dad-Bod" Check)

Because this is a slightly more tailored cut than the old heavy tees, sizing is key.

• The Rule of Thumb: If you are fairly trim or athletic, your usual High Street size (Next, H&M, etc.) will give you a smart, fitted look.
• The "Comfort" Warning: If you prefer your shirts baggy, or if you are carrying a bit of "holiday weight" (beer belly), we highly recommend sizing up. The Softstyle fabric clings a little more than heavy cotton, so go one size larger for a relaxed, forgiving fit.

3. Advice for the Ladies (Relaxed Unisex)

Women generally prefer the 64000 over the heavy 5000 because the fabric is softer and less bulky.

• The Boyfriend Look: Order your usual UK dress size equivalent. Because the fabric is lighter, it tucks into high-waisted jeans beautifully without bunching up.
• The Styled Look: If you plan to tie a knot at the side or roll the sleeves, stick to your standard size. If you want a tighter, form-fitting look, size down one.

4. The "Ring-Spun" Rule (Fabric & Care)

These shirts are made from 100% ring-spun cotton (unless you order a heather colour). This is what makes them soft, but it also means they don't love high heat.

• Shrinkage: These are pre-shrunk, but all cotton moves a little.
• Top Tip: Wash cool (30°C or 40°C) and avoid the tumble dryer if possible. If you blast this shirt in a hot dryer, it will tighten up. If you live by the tumble dryer, definitely order a size up.
